LAWS 767 - Media Law|

Credits: 3

The course will focus on freedom and control of mass media in the context of the constitution, statutes, regulations and common law. The goal of the course will be to develop an analytical framework to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from news gathering and publication in traditional and emerging media. Specific areas of discussion will include prior restraint, access to public records and places, defamation, invasion of privacy, copyright and privileges against compelled testimony and production from reporters.

Basis of Grade: Final examination and class participation
